Executive Director

Kanesha Barnes-Adams is a native of Arkansas, where she currently works and resides. She has been committed to education and service for the past 7 years through her work with UALR Children International, Americorps-Teach for America, Friday Fellows and EAST. As an educator of color, she has faced some unique challenges as she works to bridge the academic disparities in the state of Arkansas. She has conducted research on the academic achievement gap in Little Rock and continues to work to find a solution. Her master’s work at Oklahoma State University included research on the importance of culturally responsive curriculum, and she seeks to share that with other educators of color. She is currently an Arkansas Impact Fellow at the University of Arkansas where she is studying Educational Leadership.

 

Nick
Assistant Director

Nicholas Adams serves as the Assistant Director of Colored Classrooms. He has experience in education and medicine and understands the importance of teachers and students of color. He received his B.S. from the University of Little Rock at Arkansas in Health Science with an emphasis on Health Education, Programs and Promotions.  He has worked in the capacity of education with Youth Homes, Americorps and through his work with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. He is also the head of technology for the organization.

Chief Financial Officer

Alfonzo Barnes serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Colored Classrooms. He has 28 years in business and has been successful in owning and operating businesses across the state and country. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business from Phoenix College and has continued to work in the business sector. He has worked in customer service, business, and marketing for many years. Colored Classrooms benefits from his experience and knowledge.

Treasurer

Sandra Barnes will serve as the Treasurer for Colored Classrooms. She has 15 years in banking experience. She has worked in customer service, sales, and retail banking for several years. Her experience in this capacity will support Colored Classrooms with securing grants and funds to handle daily operations. Colored Classrooms is grateful for her support, management, and time.

Program Coordinator

Shaquisha Hubbard will serve as a program coordinator for Colored Classrooms. She has worked in the health and business capacity. Her work diversity is valued by the organization, and necessary to support effective programming. She has an Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology and worked in that area. Her current work experience in business will move Colored Classrooms in a positive direction.

Program Coordinator

Shreka Shaw will serve as a program coordinator for Colored Classrooms. Shreka is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with a degree in agriculture business. She is currently employed with the FDIC as a Financial Institution Examiner. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta and has served her community through her sorority and church. Her expierence in service will ensure community service programs, and mentoring program through Colored Classrooms function properly.
